OSHA has dedicated the week of May 1st to May 5th as National Safety Stand Down week for fall prevention in the workplace. The event promotes discussions in the workplace that can prevent or reduce accidents caused by falls.
One important factor in reducing and eliminating falls is for employees to conduct inspections on their fall prevention equipment. This includes items such as harnesses, lanyards, and tie-off points. These inspections are not only required by OSHA as part of the employer’s written fall protection program, but they are also essential in giving the employee the confidence they need to know their equipment will perform properly should a fall occur.
